Rolling of ultra-thin tantalum foil strip

Rolling ultra-thin tantalum foil is a high-precision manufacturing process in which the tantalum metal is gradually thinned through a series of rolls to eventually form an extremely thin tantalum foil. Tantalum foil is widely used in electronics, telecommunications, aerospace and other fields, especially for the manufacture of high-performance capacitors, semiconductor devices, medical devices and so on. The technical scheme used for rolling ultra-thin tantalum foil is three passes rolling at room temperature:

1) The first roll
The tantalum strip to be rolled is put into the mill for the first rolling. The mechanical parameters of the first rolling are as follows: the driving side force is 120~130kN, the operating side force is 125~135kN, the left tension is 0.5~1.5kN, the right tension is 0.5~1.5kN, and the rolling force is 250~265kN; The thickness of tantalum strip after the first rolling is 0.025~0.04mm.

2) Second pass rolling
The tantalum strip of the first roll is put into the mill for the second roll. The mechanical parameters of the second roll are as follows: The driving side force is 125~135kN, the operating side force is 120~130kN, the left tension is 0.5~1.5kN, the right tension is 0.5~1.5kN, the rolling force is 250~265kN, and the thickness of the tantalum strip after the second rolling is 0.01~0.024mm.

3) Third pass rolling
The tantalum strip of the second pass is put into the mill for the third pass of rolling. The mechanical parameters of the third pass of rolling are as follows: The driving side force is 115~125kN, the operating side force is 110~120kN, the left tension is 0.5~1.5kN, the right tension is 0.5~1.5kN, the rolling force is 230~245kN, and the thickness of the tantalum strip after the third pass rolling is 0.001~0.009mm.

The tantalum content of the tantalum strip to be rolled is ≥99.95wt%; The width of the tantalum strip to be rolled is 120~160mm, and the thickness is 0.095~0.15mm. At room temperature, tantalum strips with a width of 120~160mm, a thickness of 0.1~0.2mm and a tantalum content of more than 99.95% are rolled by three passes rolling process into micron tantalum foil strips with a width of 120~160mm and a thickness of 0.001~0.009mm. The rolling process is relatively simple, only three passes can be completed, and the production efficiency is improved.
