Tantalum Foil & Tantalum Strip Products Standard

All tantalum foil and tantalum strip (UNS R05200), Ta-2.5W and Ta-2.5W strip (UNS R05252), Ta-10W foil and Ta-10W strip (UNS R05255), Ta-40Nb foil and Ta-40Nb strip (UNS R05240) follow ASTM B708.

Tantalum Foil & Tantalum Strip Production Technology

  • Process flow:
    Tantalum ingot melting by using electron beam – forging breakdown(at the temperature of 400 °C or less) - annealing - roughing - annealing - strip rolling - annealing - foil rolling - heat treatment.

  • It is best to use a cold press for forging breakdown, and the forging temperature should not be higher than 400°C(the surface of the forging turns blue at 400°C).The cold forging has a large contact surface and good material uniformity, which can reduce the pollution of gas impurities.

  • Tantalum foil & tantalum strip are processed by cold rolling. Total machining rate is 80% to 90% of the thickness of the slab, and the total processing rate is 6% to 8% of the plate thickness. To ensure the surface quality of rolled sheet, a surface with no defect, pollution and roll is required.
