1. Application of lanthanum bromide
So far, scintillation crystals have been widely used in many fields, such as nuclear physics, high energy physics, astrophysics, geological exploration, petroleum logging, nuclear medical imaging, and industrial nondestructive examination. In general, the main indicators to measure the scintillation crystals are density, optical yield, attenuation time, energy resolution and other aspects. Different fields have different requirements on the performance of scintillation crystals, and a great variety of scintillator materials are generated accordingly.
In medical applications, the main limitation of scintillation imaging is its low sensitivity to carcinomas less than 1cm, especially the lack of specialized equipment for female breast imaging. When the cerium-doped lanthanum bromide camera is connected with the scanning problem, it shows good sensitivity. At the same time, the spatial resolution, imaging signal-to-noise ratio and imaging contrast of the lanthanum bromide camera are better than others, so it can better reflect the difference between tumor and normal areas.
Due to the good energy resolution of lanthanum bromide and the successful preparation of large size lanthanum bromide crystals in recent years, the commercialization of lanthanum bromide for handheld radioisotope identification equipment (RIID) has become a reality.
2. Application of lanthanum fluoride
LaF3 crystals are mainly used as the sensing film of fluorine ion selective electrode to measure the fluorine ion concentration in the solution. As a good optical material, LaF3 crystals have a high transmittance between 0.2 and 10.5 m, so they can be used as lenses and transparent Windows.
