Tantalum has a series of excellent properties such as high melting point, low steam pressure, good cold working performance, high chemical stability, strong resistance to liquid metal corrosion, and high dielectric constant of surface oxide film. Therefore, tantalum has important applications in high-tech fields such as electronics, metallurgy, steel, chemical industry, cemented carbide, atomic energy, superconducting technology, automotive electronics, aerospace, medical health and scientific research.

50%-70% of the world's tantalum in the form of capacitor grade tantalum powder and tantalum wire is used to make tantalum capacitors. Since the surface of tantalum can form a dense and stable amorphous oxide film with high dielectric strength, it is easy to accurately and conveniently control the anodic oxidation process of capacitors, and the tantalum powder sintered block can obtain a large surface area in a small volume. Therefore, tantalum capacitors have high capacitance, low leakage current, low equivalent series resistance, good high and low temperature characteristics, long service life, excellent comprehensive performance, and other capacitors are difficult to match. It is widely used in communications (switches, mobile phones, pagers, fax machines, etc.), computers, automobiles, home and office appliances, instrumentation, aerospace, defense and other industrial and technological sectors. Therefore, tantalum is an extremely versatile functional material.

Tantalum is a rare metal with high melting point, corrosion resistance, good plasticity and high chemical activity. Based on the above characteristics of tantalum, tantalum materials and tantalum products are often used in situations where good strength and stiffness are required at high temperatures, such as heaters, heat insulation parts, charging vessels, supporting parts and other high-temperature raw materials in the furnace. Various products produced with ordinary tantalum materials, such as crucible, heater, heat shield, etc., have a short service life. This is because tantalum is an active metal, all the so-called gap elements such as oxygen, carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen will enter the tantalum material as impurities under the action of a certain temperature and time. When ordinary tantalum is used above its recrystallization temperature for a long time, due to the limited purity of the ambient gas in the furnace and the escape of some gas elements after the heat absorption of the treated material, plus the characteristics of tantalum material under heat inhalation.
