Vanadium is an important strategic resource. In China, vanadium and its compounds have two primary sources, namely vanadium titanium magnetite and stone coal. Although the vanadium-containing disposals in the process of vanadium related industrial production are not dominant in quantity, from the perspective of resource recycling, it is of great significance to study the recovery and reuse of such abandoned vanadium resources.
According to the different characteristics of vanadium resources, the technology of extracting vanadium is also different. As for stone coal and vanadium bearing clay, the traditional methods of extracting vanadium mainly used sodium calcination - water leaching, calcification calcination - acid leaching and blank calcination - acid leaching. In addition, some scholars also discussed from the perspective of roasting method, proposed a new technology of microwave-water extraction of vanadium, and began to discuss the mechanism of microwave roasting. Because of some defects in the roasting process, such as the attack of polluting gas, low leaching rate and high energy consumption, the focus of research on the technology of extracting vanadium has shifted to wet acid leaching, which has made certain progress in its technology and mechanism.
At the same time, it has also been shown that direct acid leaching of some vanadium resources requires a large amount of acid to obtain a higher leaching rate of vanadium, which has caused great difficulties in the subsequent operation of vanadium extraction. Other scholars studied the process of extracting vanadium by acid under pressure, and found that more vanadium could be dissolved by low acid. However, due to equipment constraints and other reasons, the industrialization of this process was difficult. Because the alkali leaching process has excellent selectivity, and the equipment requirements of a lower level advantage, has been the attention of many scholars. About the abandoned resources containing vanadium, because of the way of attack is quite different, even if the same class of vanadium resources may be in the physical properties, chemical composition and structure, there are many different, therefore, for this kind of vanadium containing resources to extract vanadium research needs to have stronger pertinence, ability to reach the intention of process optimization. According to the characteristics of a vanadium-chromium containing mud, exploratory test was carried out first, then single element test of alkali leaching was carried out, on the basis of which, the initial test of oxidation leaching was carried out.
