Tantalum is a rare metal with a high melting point. The melting point was 2996℃, the density was 16.68g/cm3, the lattice type was body-centered cubic. Thermal conductivity (25℃) 54W/M • K.Linear expansion coefficient (0~100℃) 6.5×10-6.Tantalum is mainly used for making tantalum electrolytic capacitors, and is also used in high temperature vacuum furnaces as supporting accessories, thermal shielding, heaters and radiators.
Among tantalum alloys, Ta-2.5w, Ta-10W and Ta-40Nb are the main alloys. Due to its excellent high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance to mineral acids, tantalum alloy can be used as heat-resistant and high-strength materials for aircraft, missiles and rockets as well as parts of control and adjustment devices.
