Tantalum niobium prices continued to rise this week, with the price of tantalum rising to $100 a pound from $80 a pound on Monday, up to $20 a pound. Niobium concentrate prices rose from around $17 a pound on Monday to around $17.5 a pound, or about $0.50 a pound.
This week, prices of tantalum products are stable and a few products are rising. The price of tantalum ingots (gtd-1,Ta: greater than 99.95%) has risen to about 2,600 yuan/kg. The price of tantalum oxide (Ta2O5: greater than 99.99%) has risen to about 2,100 yuan/kg, while other products have been temporarily stabilized and some enterprises have increased slightly.
Due to the scarcity of tantalum niobium resources in China, tantalum niobium ore has low grade, and tantalum niobium is heavily dependent on imports. Following last week's increase in corporate prices, customer enquiries have increased, market volume is light and the market is still digesting.
