Platinum Iridium alloy Introduction
Platinum-iridium alloy is platinum based iridium binary alloy, it is continuous solid solution at high temperature. It is slowly cooled at 975 ~ 700 ° C until solid phase decomposition, and the phase equilibrium process is quite slow. Iridium is volatile and oxidized, which can significantly improve the corrosion resistance of platinum. Platinum-iridium alloy such as Ptlrl0, Ptlr17.5, Ptlr25 or Ptlr30 possesses advantages of high hardness, high melting point, high corrosion resistance and low contact resistance. Its chemical corrosion velocity is 58% of pure platinum and the oxidation loss is 2.8mg/g. It is a classical electric contact material used for the electric contact points of ignition contacts, high sensitivity relays and micromotors, or potentiometers, conducting rings and brushes for precision sensors such as aircrafts, missiles and gyroscopes. We can produce platinum-iridium alloy sheets and plates, rods and bars, tubes, ingots and pellets.
